Our Capt. Luke headed to Townsville last week to fish the Mike Carney Billfish Challenge with Pete, Val and Leigh O’Brien (O’Brien Boats). As most of you know we regularly fish this comp with Mike as angler but this time the team who spent many years fishing alongside Mike were fishing in his memory.
And they won!
The fishing wasn’t fantastic, the leaderboard was tight and there was a nervous wait to cease fishing – but 3 tags on the final day was enough to push them one fish in front.
Always great to win our hometown Tournament and to do it with the O’Briens who have been part of our fishing family for many many years as well, was special.
They took home Champion Boat, Champion Male Angler (Luke), Champion Female (Val), 2 x Champion Boat Daily Awards, and 2 x First Sailfish Awards.
