Another month has passed and here we are gearing up for the marlin season ahead, starting with the Cairns BlueWater GFC’s Billfish Tournament held out of Fitzroy Island this coming week.
So much has happened since our return from the Gulf last month.
Luke and Kelly had a short break to the Sydney Boat Show (and the Thredbo snow fields) where they have purchased a new boat (Grady White 191CE) to enjoy yet more fishing when not on board KEKOA!
More recently KEKOA has been out of the water for her annual birthday treatment. She’s always been a traffic stopper, but here she is literally stopping the traffic going back into the water!
The KEKOA barra tenders have also been undergoing a makeover for next year’s barra season and are looking pretty shmancy if we do say so ourselves! We are also just finalising our guests’ fishing dates for the Gulf Barramundi Season next year right now, so if you haven’t yet heard from us please get in touch to confirm your dates. At this stage the 2016 season is full! (But you never know what will happen between now and then, so do please contact us if you are interested in fishing 🙂 )
Likewise, the 2016 Giant Black Marlin Season is booking fast, we have just a few key dates left in October and November.
Next year is a big year for KEKOA and the rest of the Cairns Giant Black Marlin fleet. We are celebrating our 10th Anniversary as KEKOA (4 years on the 47 footer, and will be 6 on the 56 footer!), and the Cairns Giant Black Marlin fishery will also be celebrating its 50th Anniversary – commemorating 50 years since the very first grander black marlin was caught off Cairns.
We have Col and Kylie joining us again to fish the tournament and are looking forward to participating in this prestigious event and blowing out a few candles of our own!
Meanwhile with the fishing is just kicking off again, stay tuned for reports and pics here or on Kelly’s Black Marlin Blog and Instagram accounts.
